Plot: ON THAT DAY... WE ARE DEMON
First of all I want to admit that this movie will go down in history with some of my other Cult Favorites: Leprechaun in the Hood 1 & 2 and Broken Lizard's Club Dread. I read a ton of reviews for 13/13/13 prior to watching the film. I wasn't expecting much from it. I soon learned after starting the film that viewers apparently didn't get the twisted humor of James Cullen Bressack. The film is about the effect of changing leap year had on the Mayan Calendar. Because of years of leap year, today is 13/13/13. Soon the weak and young start to take on demon personalities that eventually affect everyone, unless you are born on, you guessed it, leap year. The movie has some excellent death scenes, some excellent comedy from Jody Barton and J. Scott, and a cameo from Jessica Cameron.

Is the movie perfect? No, far from it. This movie wasn't made to win any awards, but wanted to tell a twisted but dark story for true horror fans.

Notes:
  • I think Jody Barton is extremely underrated as an actor. His performance in 13/13/13, To Jennifer, and Hate Crime should put him on everyone's radar.
  • Ian Roberts once again plays a psychopath like no other. His Herculean build and devilish attitude is perfect for this film.
  • Trae Ireland and Erin Coker make a great team throughout the film.
  • Tiffany Martinez is a new face, but has a great performance!
  • The only disappointment was the cover of the DVD and Netflix. The film doesn't have demons coming out of people, nor is there that many crazy kids.
Overall: 4.75 out of 6 Skulls
