Young, High and Dead (2013) Review

Young, High and Dead (2013)
Director: Luke Brady
Writer: Luke Brady
Rum Punch Productions
Special thanks to Luke Brady for allowing us to review such an awesome UK bloodbath!

Review:

When five friends head to the woods for a weekend of drug fueled madness their night soon descends into chaos when they pitch up next to the grave of a local missing child. The film has amazing dialogue and the subtle humor is a great additional to this wonderful UK treasure.

Why You Should Watch It:

This film has fantastic young British actors that we on the stateside may not be aware of. The two actresses, Hannah Tointon and Louisa Lytton are fantastic and beautiful young scream queens. The gentlemen in the film do a fantastic job countering the narrative. Tony Montana would be jealous of the amount of drugs these kids consume in this movie! There are some fantastic brutal scenes in this movie for the truest horror fan, yet the dialogue separates this film from many others.

Why You Shouldn’t Watch It:

There is no reason at all for any horror fan not to watch this film. The only problem I had with the film was translating British English, to American English. This is probably easier for most, but I tend to have to concentrate sometimes to catch everything going on with the dialogue.

Rating: 5.25 out of 6 Skulls

“This is a UK treasure that combines storytelling, humor, and brutality in 89 minutes. These kids are higher than Charlie Sheen on a binger!”- D. Mack

HogMaul: The Legend of Abrams County Review

HogMaul: The Legend of Abrams County (2013)
Director: Nap Bishop
Writer: Nap Bishop
Ill Conceived Films
Special thanks to Nap Bishop for providing this awesome American Gormedy!

Review:

Is it legend, or is it true? HogMaul is a local legend starting in the 1950’s that in Abrams County that supposedly killed multiple youth. Over the years the people of the small county blamed multiple disappearances and murders on the beast. After a few young adults come up missing, two detectives and a group of hemp loving young people come across the gruesome legend!

Why You Should Watch It:

The comedy and the writing in this film are superb. You would think that Nap would have an impressive list of films that he had written. The dialogue is hilarious and adds value to the film. Although it is low budget, Nap doesn't make the viewer feel if it is so because of the great dialogue and comedy throughout. The story is a good one and the brutality is fun.

Why You May Want to Skip It:

You don't want to skip it. This is low budget, but the comedy and the horror are real. I would put it in the same category as the original Hatchet, without the thousands of gallons of blood.

Rating: 5 out of 6 Skulls

“This is a must see horror gormedy for fans of American style horror! I'm very excited to see what the guys at Ill Conceived Films and Nap Bishop will do next!”- D. Mack

Bonus: Buy the soundtrack. With original songs like “Footjob Gang Bang” and “Corpse Fucking Rob” you will have a hell of a good time on a Saturday night. Think colloquial Rob Zombie.
